The 3710 RLS is a specially modified 3710 Sampler for the collection of radionuclide samples using 3M Empore Rad Disks. The disks selectively trap radionuclides and can then be analyzed to find concentration levels. Specific loading effects of the pollutant can be determined from the amount of sample flowing through the disk.
If water pollutants were present in very small concentrations to obtain necessary concentrations using traditional methods a technician would have had to expose the Empore disks to large quantities of sample. Placing the Empore disk in the collected sample on-site eliminates these cumbersome lab procedures, dramatically reducing overall cost and turnaround time.
A study by Westinghouse Savannah River Company, using Isco 3710 RLS samplers, showed that Data collected over a four-month field test period compares very favourably with concurrent laboratory-based analyses and historical data, at a reduction in cost and significant time savings.
