For difficult terrains or to bridge large distances the A731 is a useful device. When installed well (ideally in an elevated position such as an antenna tower) an A731 can achieve communication distances beyond 20km. A mains adapter is recommended if more than 10 RTUs are to be routed through one A731.
With all of the major components (radio, CPU, battery) in a single compact aluminium case installation is simply a matter of fixing the case to a mast. No other external enclosures are needed. Connecting the solar panel activates the RTU.
