Adcon Irrigation Meter / Rain Gauge

The Irrigation meter measures precipitation and irrigation by means of a self-emptying spoon, which tips when the preset water weight has been reached. Water is collected via a funnel with a 50 cm² orifice. Re-calibration of the sensor is easy, and it retains its accuracy over many years.

The resolution of the Irrigation meter will depend on its usage. When used as an irrigation sensor the spoon will tip once it has accumulated 5g of water, which can then be easily converted into a flow rate of e.g. gallons/hr, litres/hr. When used as a rain gauge it will show precipitation with a resolution of 1mm.

All external parts of the sensor are made of Styrosun. This is a very endurable material that can withstand the sun's UV radiation and agrochemicals, as well as extreme frost and heat. When using this sensor as an irrigation gauge we recommend that a cover is used to prevent leafs, bird droppings, sand, dust or other debris clogging the inlet. The orifice has a sharp edge to deter birds from landing on it, helping to prevent clogging of the funnel by bird droppings. Water from the dripper should be guided into the sensor via a tube.

The sensor is compatible with all RTU's of the A723, A733 and A753 families. The unit comes complete with a pole mounting bracket, two pipe clamps, and a shielded 5m cable with a 7-pin Binder jack.
