The UTX878 ultrasonic flow meter boasts low power consumption and is loop-powered. It is suitable for pipes of 15mm to 200mm diameter (1/2 inch to 8 inch). The flow meter also has a full external keypad, large display, and is able to measure velocity, volumetric and totalised flow. The UTX878 is an economical flow meter using highly developed technology for accurate measurement.
A single cable carries both power to the meter and flow information back to the control system. There is an optional second channel available on the UTX878, which enables the capability to measure flow at a single point to obtain two-path averaging of the flow measurement for increased accuracy.
The UTX878 uses Correlation Transit Time technology, using a pair of transducers with each one sending and receiving ultrasonic signals through the liquid. When the liquid is moving, the signal send downstream will be shorter than the distance upstream. The difference between these is proportional to the flow.
