MCERTS Flowmeters
RS Hydro has recently won a number of contracts for the installation of electromagnetic flow meters for MCERTS applications. RS Hydro are responsible for the design, installation and commissioning of all the flow meters involved.
Typical installations include Siemens MAG5100w and MAG8000W with newly constructed chambers and often with FlowView telemetry to record all discharges.
RS Hydro has also installed a number of Panametrics DF868 clamp on flow meters which were installed because clients did not want alterations to the pipework or could not afford downtimes. The Panametrics DF868 flow meter is often an economical alternative to inline flow monitoring as the installation time, pipe configuration costs and maintenance costs are all far less than those associated with inline flow meters.

Although the official deadline for the self monitoring of effluent flow (MCERTS) was the end of December 2008, many industrial discharges are still not being measured under the scheme. Many of these are down to companies having reprieves from the Environment Agency due to regional and international economic conditions.
