Overview

The XGS868 is a complete ultrasonic flow monitoring system for the mass measurement of saturated steam and superheated steam. The XGS868 flow meter has many advantages. It creates no pressure drop, requires very low maintenance, has no moving parts and provides reliable, drift free operation.

The XGS868 ultrasonic flow meter can be installed directly at the flow measurement point as the electronic components are housed in a compact transmitter package.

The onboard flow transmitter is able to calculate the mass flow of steam once the flow velocity has been measured and the pressure and temperatures have been input.

A dual channel model of the XGS868 flow meter is also available which provides greater accuracy when measuring across two paths on the same path. The dual channel transmitter can also be used to measure flow rates in two separate pipes in a cost effective manner.

The XGS868s transducers do not obstruct the flow inside the pipe so generally cause no pressure drop. ?

PanaView software can be used with the transmitter to communicate with a PC.

Specification

Operation and Performance
Fluid Types Saturated or superheated steam
Pipe Sizes 2 in to 48 in (50 mm to 1200 mm) nominal bore (NB)
Pipe Materials All metals. Consult RS Hydro for other materials
Flow Accuracy (velocity) ±1% to 2% of reading typical
Accuracy depends on pipe size and whether measurement is one-path or two-path. Accuracy to ±0.5% of reading may be achievable with process calibration.
Repeatability ±0.2% to 0.5% of reading
Range (Bidirectional) 1500:1
Specifications assume a fully developed flow profile (typically 20 diameters upstream and 10 diameters downstream of straight pipe run) and flow velocity greater than 3 ft/s (1 m/s).
Measrement Parameters Mass flow, standard and actual flow, totalized flow, and flow velocity.
