Overview

The PT900 is the latest generation of portable clamp on flow meters from Panametrics. It has been designed based on its predecessor, the PT878, following on from years of feedback from users of portable flow meters and how they are used. The user interface, clamping fixtures and transmitter have all undergone a complete redesign.

The PT900 uses wireless Bluetooth technology to communicate with the transmitter and tablet. The PT900 android app features a setup guide wizard to enable first time users to quickly setup the meter and get measurements within minutes.

The PT900 has improved accuracy over the PT878, achieving ±1% of reading (50 mm or greater pipe sizes) and ±2% of reading (15 – 50 mm pipes sizes). Compatible with a wide range of transducers to suit most pipe sizes and materials, both lined and unlined pipes.

Additional available accessories:

  • Energy kit
  • I/O (input/output) cables
  • Rechargeable battery pack
  • Thickness gauge
  • 100 ft extension cables
  • External battery charger for spare battery

The PT900 is ideal for many types of survey:

  • Energy surveys – the PT900 can be combined with an energy kit to become a full energy meter for use on heating and cooling systems. Testing efficiency of hot water systems.
  • Water usage surveys - ideal for leak detection and monitoring water consumption. It can also be used for verifying flow rates of other flow meter technologies
  • Chemical dosing – ideal for measuring the dosage of chemicals as there is no contact with the actual chemicals. Meaning there is no problem with highly acidic or alkaline chemicals.

FAQ's

All of our standard transducers will do -40degC to +150degC, but this will depend on your application.
  • Liquid: below 50mm CFLP transducers are required, 50-1000mm CRS-402 transducers and 150-8000mm CRS-401 transducers. All the bits you need can be supplied, and delivered with the meter.
  • Gas: below 80mm CRS-402 is required, for 80-300mm the CRS-401/CRV-310 and for above 300mm the CRW-312 transducers are required.
  • High temperatures: For liquid we can measure +450degC for liquid and for gas/steam +250degC. But please consult RS Hydro.
As long as the pipe is relatively clean, coatings or paint is usually not a problem for clamp on flow meters but if the pipe is corroded or the paintwork has bubbled then a quick sanding down with sandpaper or a wire brush is recommended.
An ultrasonic wall thickness gauge, that measures to within 0.05mm, is provided as standard with all flow meter rental packages.
The screendump facility on the integrated dataloggers on all our flow meters, allows you to photograph any screen and download it to your pc.
The log path has changed from log path from "Transport/log/" to "Documents/Transport/log".
The latest TransPort PT900 Android application is compatible with Android versions 7 and above.
The above issues have been observed in the field with the older Android applications on some Android 12 devices. Download the latest version of the TransPort PT900 Android application which has been updated especially for Android version 12 devices and above. The new version of the TransPort PT900 Android application is V1.4.6 and it is compatible with TransPort PT900 transmitter software version V1.2.6.
  1. 1. Make sure the Tablet is turned On, the PT900 APP is installed, and the battery is fully charged.
  2. 2. Make sure the Transmitter battery pack is fully charged, and turn the Transmitter On by pressing and holding the Pwr button for more than three seconds. The Green Power LED will indicate that the power is On.
  3. 3. After the APP finishes loading, the default Transmitter list is displayed. During initial installation, this list is empty. To connect to a new PT900 transmitter, click SCAN and the APP will search for all available transmitters via Bluetooth.
  4. 4. After the scan has been completed, any new transmitters which were found are listed in the AVAILABLE DEVICES section of the tablet screen. Click on your transmitter to pair it with the tablet.

Note: In the above step, your PT900 transmitter is identified by the serial number on its label

  1. 5. During the pairing process, PT900 security features require the user to confirm the pairing (see Figure 9 below). When the Bluetooth pairing request appears on the tablet, a random passkey will be generated. You may ignore the random passkey and click OK to continue. Then, confirm that the blue LED on the transmitter is flashing and click the transmitter power button.

IMPORTANT: The pairing is completed only after it is confirmed at both the tablet and the transmitter. Otherwise, the pairing will fail.

  1. 6. Click the BACK button on the Android tablet to return to the PT900 APP. Then, select your PT900 transmitter in the TRANSMITTERS PAIRED list and click NEXT to open the Main Menu.
